#ActASceneComp Self-Tape Competition

#ActASceneComp is an acting competition judged by professionals in the film industry allowing actors to submit self-tapes and keep developing skills, make connections, learn from each other, allow casting directors and agents to see new talent. The competition also helps us with our Non-Profit mission to support the student and indie film community.

Guest Judge Director\Writer Maria De Sanctis

We are SO Excited to have Maria De Sanctis as our guest judge for April’s contest! Maria is a writer and director, based in both Toronto and Los Angeles. She received her MFA in Film and Television Production from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles. There, Maria was selected to co-direct her first feature film, Samir, funded by Warner Bros., and her thesis film, Father by Law, was a finalist at Austin Film Festival 2019. Maria also holds a BFA from York University’s Film Production program in Toronto, where her thesis film, Cupid, was selected by Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as one of the Top Ten student films of 2016. Maria strives to tell films that are personal and come from the heart.

CFM will be announcing winners and honorable mentions on social media and e-mail

Frequently Asked Questions

The competition is open to all actors who can make a self-tape. To enter you need to retweet our social media comp post, purchase a ticket, and submit your entry using our #ActASceneComp hash tag on Twitter or Instagram.

Each ticket costs $7.00 US. The entry fee will go towards the cash prize and funding for our non-profit initiatives supporting our creative communities.

Tickets will be on sale until April 27th or until they are sold out.

Scripts will be available shortly after you buy a ticket purchase. The earlier you purchase a ticket, the more time you have to prepare your scene. Four scripts will be made available and any of them can be used and portrayed any way you wish.    

Self tapes MUST be uploaded to Youtube with your name and ActASceneComp in the Title. Next, you must reply to your confirmation email with the YouTube link. This link must be emailed to comps@collegefilmmakers.com by April 30th 11:59 pm PST. Any submissions received after this time won’t be entered. Please also post your tape to Twitter or Instagram using our hash tag #ActASceneComp and tag us @collegefilm.

Announcements will take place 2 weeks after the contest closes.

  • This is a competition geared to help actors improve their skills and practice their craft. It’s not an audition for a part in a film or play.
  •  For this competition, the only script material that can be used are the scripts provided by us.  
  • Once a ticket has been purchased, there are no refunds for any reason. 
  • By entering the competition and submitting a self-tape, you are giving us permission to use it on social media unless requested at the time of purchased. 
  • The competition is available and open to actors of all ages. Parental consent must be given for actors under 18.
